The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a medium sized, extremely
friendly and smart, loving dog. They don't shed and their coat grows at a very fast rate, so extensive grooming is required.
They start out a dark apricot color as puppies and then change to the distinctive wheaten color by the time they are a year
old. Their coat is very soft, which gives them their name, it has a gentle wave to it, some of them have more curl than others.
They usually weigh between 35 and 45 pounds. They are a happy self-confident dog, always ready to please. They are
extremely smart and require training to keep them in line. The Wheaten is usually a one family dog, they bond to you and
are extremely protective. They are fantastic with children, very loving and gentle. They do have a tendency to be aggressive
to other dogs, so if introducing them to new pets be careful and take your time. They are prone to a few diseases so do your
research. The continuous upkeep of the coat is also something to keep in mind before buying a puppy. They are more than
just a pet, they are a lifelong friend and companion.
